About Me

I recently completed a one-year internship in an urban, third-grade classroom through Michigan State University to earn my Teaching Certification in Elementary Education with a Major in both Language Arts and English. I am also working towards an M.A. in Educational Technology. I will be completed with my Master’s by the end of 2009. I currently have a Bachelor of Arts in English and Classical Archaeology, both from the University of Michigan. In addition to my required coursework, I have studied French, Spanish, and Latin at the college level.

In the past, I have worked as an optician and lab technician, a dance instructor, a pilates instructor, an office manager, and a restaurant manager. Most recently, I worked as a quality-assurance engineer for Siboney Learning Group, an educational software company. Orchard Software, one of the products that I worked on, recently won the prestigious AEP 2007 Golden Lamp Award and was a 2007 SIIA CODIE Finalist.

I am passionate about ancient history and cultural studies, and travel extensively to broaden my awareness in these areas. I use technology to foster a global awareness in my classroom. During my year-long internship, I was able to experiment with the implementation of new technologies, with varying degrees of success. I plan to build upon my successes in the coming years to fully integrate technology into all aspects of my classroom environment.
